  • UCSD Figure Skating off to Intercollegiate Championships

    We wish the UCSD figure skating the best of luck as they travel to Delaware to compete at the Intercollegiate Championships at the University of Delaware! This is the first time they have qualified for nationals since the team came together 4 years ago. Skate great UCSD!

  • 2016 Pacific Cost Synchronized Sectional Results

    First place for Team del Sol Senior, Team del Sol Novice, Shining Blades Preliminary. Second place for Team del Sol Intermediate, Shining Blades Open Juvenile, Shining Blades Pre-Juvenile.  Full results can be found on IceNetwork.

    Good luck Team del Sol Senior in Scotland as Team USA and to all the teams moving on to Nationals.

  • SDFSC Member Amanda Zhou Honored by USFSA

    U.S. FIGURE SKATING HONORS 10 SCHOLAR ATHLETES AT 2016 PRUDENTIAL U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS

    BAA_2048The 2016 US Figure skating Scholastic Honors Team named ten people including Amanda Zhou who will graduate from Westview High School in San Diego this spring. An AP Scholar with Distinction, she maintains a 4.04 GPA and is involved with the Westview Interact Club and the Westview Link Crew. In addition to earning certificates in competency in computer applications and competency in Internet publishing and web design, Zhou is a tutor with Music Outreach of San Diego and volunteered at the Ocean Discovery Institute. A member of San Diego Figure Skating Club, Zhou skates with the senior Team Del Sol synchronized skating team, which placed first at the 2014 Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships. Team Del Sol will also represent Team USA at Trophy D’Ecosse this season. A runner and ice captain for various local skating competitions, she is an active volunteer within her local skating community.

    As application numbers increase, the selection process for the Scholastic Honors Team has become increasingly competitive. U.S. Figure Skating would also honored eight additional applicants on the Scholastic Honors Team Honorable Mention including Grace Joone Lee, San Diego FSC.

    Nathan Luong and Katie Luong (left) qualified by placing second in Juvenile Pairs at 2016 Pacific Coast Sectionals.

    Additionally, they earned a Special Achievement Award for the most points for at least one +2 GOE (or higher) by any judge for any element.
