Ashley Cohen and Camden Rider made San Diego Figure Skating Club proud this morning with their strong performance in the two-part Juvenile Pattern Dance competition at US National Championships in Kansas City. They earned an 8th place finish among the twelve top Juvenile teams in the country.
Cohen and Rider started strong with the sharp and clean 14-step, which made the judges take notice of the team, and earning a 10th place finish in that first pattern dance. They then followed with an elegant and smooth Willow Waltz, for which they jumped ahead several positions with a 7th place finish, giving them an overall combined pattern dance placement of 8th.
San Diego Ice Arena Ice Dance Coach Jon Nichols and Geoff Varner are accompanying Cohen and Rider on their second trip to US National Championships.
Cohen and Rider compete in the Freedance portion of the event Sunday at 8 am (CT). Watch live on IceNetwork at www.IceNetwork.com. Check out Ashley and Camden on the icenetwork.com website as the picture for the event:
